For a few months I've been working on a small algorithmic trading project on the side — partly to learn ML on real (and brutally noisy) data, partly because finance is one of the places where measurement and model meet in interesting ways. The setup is unremarkable: a universe of 16 sector and broad-market ETFs (SPY, QQQ, DIA, the XL- sector series, IWM, IYY), per-ticker models that produce daily forecasts, and a rules-based execution layer with stop-losses on top.

The most striking thing about LLMs, to me, is that they’re doing exactly what they think they've been asked to do. Not what I asked — what they perceived I asked. That gap between intent and interpretation shows up constantly in development work, and it’s what pushed me to explore a better way to work with these models.

Autonomous Vehicles (AV) have been discussed widely, so much so that I wouldn't consider myself even to be a beginner. The subject has many technological aspects (to say the least), many of which I have no clue about. There is one thing I can say, however - I think that the mainstream discipline of how to control individual cars is, with all due respect, wrong.

When I was at mid-elementary school age I boarded for the first time in my life (and last) on a $20 million yacht. Needless to say, as a child from a small and simple town, I was perplexed. I never imagined myself that things like that even exist. It was like a mansion on water: 3-4 floors of unbelievably luxury, all-wooden floors, some of which was carved with white decorations, cinema room, bar room, engine room (I'm spitting anything I remember - don't judge), on sea level floor there was another boat inside the yacht itself!
